The lake is looking awfully quiet and beautiful today. Skied around Lee Vining Creek, to the DWP dock and LEEV delta. Perfectly silent, no ducks, no grebes. Out in the middle were three gulls too far out to identify. I sat on the dock for about 20 mins watching them slowly float closer. To no avail. Onward to the delta, I found it lonesome except for a Song Sparrow. Hmmm...the gulls. I decided to ski back up to my car to get a scope. Upon inspection the compadres were ring-bills, looking content on a still Mono Lake.
