Buzzed over to Grant lake on this breezy day. The first unfrozen part of the lake was mostly empty, but the second part is more sheltered. There were 8-10 Hooded Mergansers; 1 adult male, heartily displaying to females, 1 sud-ad. male and the rest female or young male types. They were in a group of big common mergs, the males of those also displaying. Nice calls. A bald eagle was about.
