A lark sparrow, bright and singing away at Wilson Creek, downstream from Conway houses. Past few days, several migrant species moving through. Among Rush, Lee Vining, Mill and Wilson Creeks, we've seen Tons of Ruby-crowned Kinglets, they are dripping off of the willows. Also, BRIGHT Yellow Warblers (perhaps rubiginosa migrants?), MacGillivray's, Wilson's, Orange-crowned and Audubon's Warblers, Hammond's, Dusky, and Gray Flycatchers. Vesper, Chipping and Brewer's Sparrows. Song Sparrows are getting frisky, copulations observed. Black-crowned Night Herrons, Bushtits building nests... GREEN-TAILED TOWHEES! YIPPEE! A Sora struttin' around Wilson Creek. Black-headed Grosbeak and large flock of Yellow-headed Blackbirds hanging around feeders and ornamental trees in Mono City (as well as large flocks of Brown-headed Cowbirds)... Sage Thrasher... Rest! cries the chief sawyer and we pause for breath.
