We watched this one for a while along Parker Creek at Cain Ranch pouncing on prey from various perches, staying close to the creek, and allowing us to approach closely. Strongly banded tail, distinguishing touch of red on the shoulder, light crescent near wingtips, dark streaks running down upper chest and then dark brown/red barred breast. Last juv. and Red-shouldered seen during 2002 xmas bird count. Just down the dirt road between Parker and Walker, along the old fenceposts we counted 12 Am. Kestrels foraging.
