Today at the Rush Creek County Road ford, I happened upon 50-60 Pinyon Jays drinking in the shallow pools of the ford. It was a spectacular thing, reminiscent of a Ralph Steadman painting, or a Sufi poem. I realized I was wearing a t-shirt the same shade of blue as the jays, and I decided to go into the water with them. Unfortunately, all 51-61 of us realized at the same instant that I was also wearing green pants, and they launched into the surrounding buffaloberry clones.
