Gotta love this snow! Went for a short ski out the east rd of Mono City and ran into a "long tailed sparrow" that didn't look quite right. I chased the poor thing for a few minutes (on skis!) and finally got a good look...Sage Sparrow. Beautiful striking white malar, supralora, eye ring. Blocky gray head leading to brown body. So beautifully cloaked in simplicity. The earliest Gaines record is 16 March 1980 on the east side of the Lake.
