Yesterday evening while following Bridgeport Creek to the lake (it is flowing past Hwy 167, a rare event), I was greeted by the sound of summer: thousands of California Gulls! They are in the lagoons along the shore, and there were lots of white dots in the lake too--I couldn't tell what kind of shorebird those were. Two Northern Harriers patrolled the meadowy margins of the lagoons. See http://www.monolake.org/live/pow24.htm for photos.
