About half-way between Samman's and Warm Springs, I saw a peep that caught my eye. What stood out was that it had a red head and neck (head lightly-streaked), and a straight medium-length bill that appeared thicker than Western/least and was thickened at the base. The head color seemed to contrast noticeably with the body, and the legs were black. There was no obvious chestnut on the wings. In any case, it looked way different. He could be anywhere around the lake, but there is alot of peep-age at Warm Springs and the birds say there is good stuff to be had from about 2 miles east of Navy Beach to about a mile west of Samman's (lots of phalaropes and avocets and fair amount of peeps and other shorebirds).
