Fall colors are a slow to develop
in the Mono Basin this year. Some of the higher elevation groves, especially
above Lundy Canyon and the Parker Bench are already 4-5 days behind last year's
beginning date of exhibiting noticeable yellow and orange. A very small number
of trees have begun to turn yellow at the higher elevations, and smaller trees
in drier soils have already begun to turn as well. Upper elevations are at about
10% color and lower elevations less than 2%. Green still rules.
