I went up the Horse Meadows road with Paul McFarland and saw a lot of birds. We found a towering Jeffrey Pine snag that housed nesting Red-shafted Flickers, White-breasted Nuthatches, Mountain Bluebirds, Pygmy Nuthatches, and Violet-Green Swallows. All in the same snag. They were salvage logging, writing their own healthy forests initiative. Here are some photos from our walk, and of a caterpillar that approached me in a dangerous sort of way.
