About the "Western" Flycatchers in Lee Vining Canyon: Last summer I recorded birds on two different territories (one near the beginning, and one near the end, of Poole Power Plant road). After listening to the tapes a bunch and playing them for some more experienced people, I'm convinced they're Cordilleran. Also heard one last week in Bohler Canyon. I haven't yet heard a bird in the basin that sounds like Pac.-slope. Some other recent sightings include 3+ Black-throated Sparrows near the top of Black Point on 6/13 (singing and chasing each other), and 3-6 singing Black-throated Gray Warblers on the south side of Williams Butte on 6/16 (they were moving up and down the slope as I climbed, so it was tough to tell how many there were). Also, on 6/17, I had a nice long look at a Badger running along a dry area of the Lee Vining creek bed, ~1/3 of the way between the visitor's center and the other end of the LV creek trail. Lots of Lazuli Buntings around this year!!
