I flushed it from the cottonwoods around Channel 8, and initially thought it was a Coop. Then I saw its face and its wings and knew it was a Pergrine. I have limited experience aging them, but from its underwing coverts, its general brown appearance (leading me to first think it was an accipiter), the amount of white in its tail, combined with its face, I would guess it was a juvenile F. p. anatum, if that is the same subspecies that Sibley mentions as the "Interior West" race.
