Sorry this is a bit late, but last Friday (9/1), while my wife and I were kayaking in Mono Lake, we had point-blank views of both Sabine's Gull and Parasitic Jaeger at the mouth of Rush Creek. Note that there was almost no wing flash on the jaeger, but overthing else pointed to Parasitic. Some birders on the shore told me that the jaeger had been present the previous evening as well. Sadly, my wife had the camera set to 3 mega-pixels for her work, so the photos are not what they could be. Furthermore, point-and-shoot photography from a rocking kayak seldom produces cover-worthy shots. Nonetheless, the birds were quite approachable in the boats. Pelagic birding at its finest!!
