I finished a report and went outside for awhile. There were some interesting birds at the ponds, including a Redhead (which Gaines dubbed abundant in September on the Eastside - surprising); a flock of seven Great Egrets, beautiful in the afternoon sun and something I almost never see in the Basin; a lone Vaux's Swift with gangs of Violet-Green and Barn Swallows - I hoped it was a Chimney Swift, but there are multiple records for Vaux's in the Basin in September; a Lark Sparrow; and a bunch of Ruddies in the County Pond.
