Not since the Pleistocene. :) It's possible that you saw a group of American White Pelicans in passing. It doesn't explain the pink, but they're big and unusual and the power of suggestion is mighty hard to fight. We have all fallen victim to it when it comes to birds. Flamingos do hang out in the Altiplano in Bolivia/Chile and do mix with Wilson's Phalaropes, which ARE a vistior to Mono.

Winter 2008 Update: Bill Banta once saw an escaped flamingo at Mono Lake years ago. You can find them as close as Las Vegas :).
