On Tuesday May 29th, my mom (Kathy) and I observed 6 Clark's Grebes with 4 Western Grebes a short ways off from the Lee Vining Creek delta. They make such beatufiul strange noises. This is the highest number of CLGRs that I've ever seen at the lake, so we were pretty happy. Later in the day there was a single female Red-necked Phalarope near County Park near several Wilson's. On Wednesday May 30th, I took a quick stroll down to the Rush Creek Delta. Close to 1000 California Gulls were bathing, drinking, loafing, and commuting to and fro. There was a single Bank Swallow being chased by the Rough-Winged Swallows nesting in the bluffs at the delta. And as I was leaving, three Black Terns came floating along over the creek down toward the lake.
