While this is not in the Mono Basin, it is stupendous news: a wolverine has been photographed for the first time ever in the Sierra Nevada! Wolverines are claimed to be seen every few years in the Mono Basin and Southern Sierra (as recently as 2 years ago on snowy Ellery Lake in fading evening light), but confirming sightings of this elusive creature is difficult.
