largest
breeding population of California Gulls
in the world, and studies of gull populations
played a central role in the resolution of
the environmental controversy at Mono
Lake. Adaptive management of the Mono
Lake ecosystem requires monitoring and
scientific investigation as conditions change.
Gull productivity and foraging research
continue to provide valuable management
guidance.
