Jim Stimson Photographic Exhibit
What: The Mono Lake Committee Information Center and Bookstore will feature a photographic exhibit by world-renowned photographer Jim Stimson. This show will include photographs of Mono Lake and the Eastern Sierra. Available for purchase will be original photographs, posters, notecards, and Jim’s book Mono Lake: Explorations and Reflections.
Where: The Mono Lake Committee Information Center and Bookstore, Highway 395 at Third Street, located in Lee Vining.
Who: Jim Stimson is an Eastern Sierra native. His photographs of the western landscape are published in a wide variety of books, magazines and calendars. His work appears in such magazines as the Smithsonian, Backpacker, Earth, Wilderness, Outdoor Photographer, and Camera and Darkroom. His images appear in Audubon, Nature Conservancy, Sierra Club and Mono Lake Committee calendars.
The Roger Tory Peterson Institute has honored Jim Stimson. He was presented the Ansel Adams Award for Photography by the Sierra Club, and is a long time supporter of the Mono Lake Committee.

Saturday April 29th, Photographic Exhibit Opening:
This photography exhibit will feature images of Mono
Lake and the Great Basin, as well as images of Death Valley. Also
available will be a complete selection of Jim Stimson’s work:
Photographs, notecards, posters and his book Mono Lake: Explorations and
Reflections. This exhibit will run from April 29th throughout October
31st. Please visit the Mono Lake Committee Information Center and
Bookstore to view this exhibit. Summer hours of the Bookstore are 9am to
10pm. Call 647-6595 for more information.
Saturday May 27thArtist Reception:
The Mono Lake Committee will host an Artist Reception
in honor of world-renowned photographer Jim Stimson. Light refreshments
and drinks will be provided. The reception will be held from 5pm to
7pm.
Saturday August 19th, Poster and Book Signing:
Jim Stimson’s book Mono Lake: Reflections and
Explorations as well as his posters Sunset Rabbit Brush and Mono Lake
Shoreline Detail will be the feature of this artist signing. These items
will be available for sale to those who wish the author to personalize
them. Signing will be 1pm to 4pm. Please join us.
