Huell Howser just let us know that there’s a December date set for a second airing of the Mono Lake episode of California’s Gold. Watch for it on KCET (Los Angeles area) on December 19 at 10:00pm.

Tonight, November 23, 2008, is a big night for Mono Lake. It will be featured in a full hour on KCET (the Los Angeles PBS station) in the show California’s Gold! Huell Howser’s exploration of Mono Lake will be on at 7:00 pm. It’s particularly fun because the show includes both his visit of 15 years ago and his return this summer to see the how our hard-won implementation of the lake’s protection is proceeding.

She loves her job because she gets to share the inspiring work of the Mono Lake Committee with members and visitors alike. When she's not in the office you might find her running with her dogs Dublin and Poco, volunteering with the Lee Vining Fire Department, listening to any music with a banjo in it, or willing the plants in her garden to grow. This just in my inbox from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) about an “EPA Watershed Academy Webcast.” Innovative strategies are being used in Southern California and the City of Los Angeles in order to reduce stormwater runoff and increase groundwater recharge. This has the potential to reduce imported water supplies from places like Mono Lake. Read on for the details of the webcast. (more…)

As the flow of visitors through the Committee’s store dwindles to a trickle with Tioga Pass closed, it’s fun to remember back to the busy summer and all the friends who came to see us. Last August we had a real treat: poet Gary Snyder stopped in to say hello!
