Recently added Website features
January 31st, 2009 by Greg, Information & Restoration SpecialistWe are hard at work optimizing a lot of little details on the Mono Lake Website. A few new features you may have missed:
1. We had a problem with keeping users logged in when following certain secure page links. You may still run into this problem if you bookmark a secure page (hint–only bookmark non-secure pages if you don’t want to have to log in each time), but otherwise this problem is fixed!
2. On the homepage, you’ll now see a little white “i” in the bottom right corner of the large scrolling image. Clicking on this will take you to our photo credits page, which thanks the generous photographers who allow us to use their beautiful images on the site.
3. The Webcam thumbnail images used to be the larger image resized in the page. This caused the pages with these thumbnails (especially the Members’ extra Webcam features page) to load slowly. Thanks to Russell Bell, our volunteer who helps us with our Webserver, we now have a small copy of the current image loaded on these pages. This makes the page load faster and still allows a mini-preview!
We’ve got a lot more on our list, so keep checking for new features. Plans include navigation improvements, Webcam movies, a new program to run the Bird Sightings page, and much much more!
