Help protect the Sierra with your very own license plate
October 26th, 2009 by Morgan, Project SpecialistRight now the Sierra is lightly dusted with snow and is absolutely breathtaking, especially with the glow of sunset just touching the tops of the peaks. And what I see from here in the Mono Basin is just a section of more than 400 miles of mountains, granite domes, valleys, and massive trees all vibrant with life. What can we do to help protect this important place?
The Sierra Nevada Conservancy has created a license plate pledge program, where you can sign up for a special license plate and help protect the Sierra Nevada. We need 7,500 people to sign up for the program, so visit sierralicenseplate.org today!
The sales of Sierra Nevada license plates will benefit the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, which provides funding for conservation, habitat restoration, recreation, and other economically important projects in the Sierra Nevada. The Sierra Nevada Conservancy, a state agency, is an important partner with the Eastern Sierra Land Trust, and they provide support for education and outreach programs in the Sierra along with potential future funding of conservation easement acquisitions.
The important thing to remember is these special plates will be issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles only if there are 7,500 paid pledges!
Want to show your love of the Sierra? Visit sierralicenseplate.org to learn more and to purchase your plate today! Or stop into the Mono Lake Committee to pick up a mail-in certificate.
