Shorter hours, interpretive tours ending … autumn is coming to Lee Vining

“How did it already become the end of August?” has been a question floating around the office this past week.

As fall sneaks up, things begin to change around Lee Vining. For the Mono Lake Committee staff, the end of summer means that the seasonal staff pack up their bags, daily tours come to an end, and there are new hours in our Information Center & Bookstore.

Here are some important dates to take note of while planning your last-minute summer trips to Mono Lake: Starting on Sunday, August 25 the Information Center & Bookstore will be open from 9:00am to 7:00pm. The last weekend for canoe tours will be Labor Day weekend—August 31 and September 1. The last day for full interpretive activities such as South Tufa tours and bird walks will be Monday, September 2.

This summer has been a whirlwind of activities and we are thrilled so many of you were able to share in the experience and wonderment of Mono Lake with us!
