Comments on: Mono Lake in another drought year A refreshing collection of all things Mono Lake brought to you by the Mono Lake Committee staff Sun, 20 May 2018 21:12:37 +0000 hourly 1 By: Geoff, Executive Director Thu, 30 Jun 2016 23:43:40 +0000 Thank you Mono Lake supporters for your positive comments and encouragement. We’re in this together!

Bill, regarding the State Water Board, our modeling shows the lake would be at 6350 elevation today without the 1994 decision—a full 28 feet lower and past the point of ecosystem collapse. The drought has been tough on the lake (and California) but we will see it rise again.

By: Bill Garnett Thu, 30 Jun 2016 18:31:23 +0000 I fail to see how the word sucessful can be applied at any point in your article. You had LADWP over a barrel in 1994 and instead supported a compromise that will most likely never see the lake level exceed 6378 in my lifetime. I was born in 1951 and started coming to the lake in 1969. It fills me with dispare when I stand next to the markers for those years in the county park. The Mono Lake Committee is a failure in my book. I am no longer a member.

By: Lin Teichman Fri, 24 Jun 2016 20:10:45 +0000 Thank you all for all you do to protect this valuable place! Too bad that at such a crisis point ALL the flow to LA cannot be stopped. I suspect the people of the LA area would barely notice the change, but it would be HUGE for the lake (yeah, politics, I know). I appreciate the updates and will continue to do my rain dance in my backyard, hoping for the best.

By: Liliane Gersh Fri, 24 Jun 2016 17:54:57 +0000 I am so glad that you are on the job! I wish that L.A. would work more on getting their population to be more careful about water usage. When I was there at the end of February, so many houses still had large grass areas that were using so much water. That really needs to stop!

By: Claire Wahrhaftig Fri, 24 Jun 2016 17:20:21 +0000 I’m so proud of all of you for your industry and imagination in saving and providing best conditions for Mono Lake. I recall testifying at the hearing in 1994 before the State Water board. Because I am an arts administrator In now retired), I gave my testimony in poetry dedicated to the Lake. Alas, those words have been lost. But much praise to you all, Keep up the good fight. May this wonderful lake endure for generations.

By: Russ Taylor Fri, 24 Jun 2016 03:44:41 +0000 I continue to be so thankful for you all and the work you do. Keep doing good.

By: Carollyne Leighland Fri, 24 Jun 2016 03:40:09 +0000 As a former Californian I watch from here from British Columbia. I am always so proud of the work being done by the Mono Lake Committee and send along whatever support I can afford. But always support by way of my love for the geography and beauty of California and its wonders.
Thank you for all that you do.
Thank you.

By: Stephen Whitaker Fri, 24 Jun 2016 03:32:26 +0000 You guys can do it because you have done it before. But……don’t look back……point your chin to the wind and GO!

By: Stephen Whitaker Fri, 24 Jun 2016 03:29:52 +0000 You guys have done wonders. Your reward? Double your efforts.

But you can do it because you have done it before.
