Although there are fewer people traveling through Lee Vining during this time of year, the Mono Lake Committee Information Center & Bookstore remains open 9:00am–5:00pm seven days a week. However, we will have several temporary closures during October and November.

On Tuesday, October 23 and Wednesday, October 24 the Information Center & Bookstore will be closed for our annual staff working retreat. We will resume normal hours (open 9:00am–5:00pm) on Thursday, October 25. Next month the Information Center & Bookstore will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 22.

We apologize for any inconvenience, and we hope to see you during your visit to the Mono Basin!

Help us reach our fundraising goals when you shop on Amazon

The holidays are nearly here, and many of us are trying to choose the perfect gifts for our friends and family. While the Mono Lake Committee online store and fall catalog (located in the fall Newsletter) offer many great gift options that support Mono Lake, we may not have something for everyone on your list. But you can still help Mono Lake while shopping on Amazon! It’s super easy to make sure your online shopping gives back to the Mono Lake Committee—all you have to do is follow this link when you shop.

For every purchase made on Amazon using this link, 5% is donated to the Mono Lake Committee through the Amazon Associates program, and that 5% really adds up. (Yes, it’s really 5%—not 0.5% like most non-profits get!) Last year you donated a record-breaking $4,174 through Amazon using this link, and we’re hoping to make 2017 another chart-topping year.

So far we’ve raised $3,389 dollars through Amazon, and we have a goal of reaching $5,000 before 2017 concludes—so we’re going to need your help. Next time you take to the web to do some shopping over the holidays, or any time of year, be sure to follow this link so that your purchases will benefit Mono Lake.

Thanks for all of your support of Mono Lake. Happy shopping and happy holidays!

We hope you’ll take a break from your fall color viewing and join us for a book signing with California author, artist, and naturalist Obi Kaufmann on Sunday, October 1 at the Mono Lake Committee.

Obi will be presenting and signing his new book, The California Field Atlas, which is a striking volume full of watercolor maps and illustrations of California’s spectacular geography and wildlife, with fascinating information about this amazing and diverse state. Come in and pick up a signed copy of the book for yourself or a friend, chat with the author, and enjoy refreshments from 3:00–5:00pm. We hope to see you there!
