SUMMARY:Giving Tuesday at Mono Lake
DESCRIPTION:You did it! $30\,000 matched for Mono Lake.\n\n\n\nWe have met our $30\,000 match goal for Giving Tuesday! Thank you so much to everyone who helped us achieve this incredible milestone. You can still help us make this a record-breaking Giving Tuesday for Mono Lake. Every donation goes directly toward our protection\, restoration\, education\, and scientific research work here at Mono Lake. \n\n\n\nThank you for your support and Long live Mono Lake! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDONATE\n\n\n\n\n\nTRACK OUR PROGRESS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nwhen you donate to the Mono Lake Committee for Giving Tuesday\, your donation will be doubled! A longtime member named Joan wanted to inspire fellow Mono Lake lovers to give an extra gift this Giving Tuesday\, and she has generously offered to match all funds raised\, dollar for dollar\, up to $30\,000\, now through November 30. \n\n\n\nThat means every donation goes twice as far—to protect everything from the tufa towers and wide open spaces of the Mono Basin to the nesting California Gull colony on the islands\, to restore Rush\, Lee Vining\, Mill\, Parker\, and Walker creeks and the fish and wildlife that depend on them\, to educate and inspire the next generation of water decision makers\, and to support the scientific research that guides all of the actions we take for Mono Lake. \n\n\n\nAlso\, mark your calendar—at 6:20am PST on Giving Tuesday morning Rose and Nora will be bringing you our traditional livestream of sunrise from the shore of Mono Lake! Thank you for everything you do for Mono Lake—your support is what makes all of the Mono Lake Committee’s work possible. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to double your donation now through Giving Tuesday. \n\n\n\n\nDONATE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTop image courtesy of matching donor Joan.

SUMMARY:Tioga Pass Run
DESCRIPTION:Join the camaraderie of the Tioga Pass Run: 3\,200 feet of elevation gain over a 12.4-mile-long course along the shoulder of one of the most scenic highways in the country. Proceeds from the run benefit the Mono Lake Committee.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAn important message about this year’s event\n\n\n\nFor 2021\, the Tioga Pass Run will be a simple\, old-school-style race in order to maximize health safety for all the runners\, walkers\, volunteers\, and organizers. Participants will receive a bib\, a T-shirt\, snacks at the finish\, and a ride back to the starting line\, but we’ll forego the medals\, the awards ceremony\, and the luncheon. \n\n\n\nPlease arrive fully vaccinated or wearing a mask; if you opt to take our shuttle\, everyone must wear a mask while in the vehicle\, regardless of vaccination status. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSign up for Tioga Pass Run updates:\n\n\n\n\n[gravityform id=”15″ title=”false” description=”false”] \n\n\n\n\n\n\n Photo by Bartshe Miller. \n\n\n\nAbout the run\n\n\n\nLocated on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range\, Tioga Pass is the eastern gateway to Yosemite National Park. The start line is in the town of Lee Vining at an elevation of 6\,781 feet above sea level and the finish line is at the top of Tioga Pass at 9\,945 feet. \n\n\n\n\n\nThis run allows you to truly enjoy the beauty of the Eastern Sierra from Mono Lake to Tioga Pass. Proceeds from the Run benefit the Mono Lake Committee. \n\n\n\nBe prepared for any weather\, from warm late summer temperatures to early winter snow flurries. Weather conditions can vary greatly from the start to finish line. There will be aid stations at miles 3\, 6\, 9\, and the finish. An ADA compliant portable toilet will be available at aid station 2 at the 6 mile mark. Car shuttles will be available to transport gear bags to the finish line during the Run and to provide participants with transportation back to Lee Vining after the Run. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrevious race results\n\n\n\n2021 | 2019 | 2018 | 2017 | 20162015 | 2014 | 2013 | 20122011 | 2010 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n\nDate: September 12\, 2021 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration: Registration is now open. \n\n\n\nQuestions? Please email Race Coordinator Alana Gilmore or Office Manager Claire Landowski. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn memory of Ferdinand Castillo\n\n\n\nThe Tioga Pass Run is dedicated to the memory of Ferdinand Castillo\, who is part of the history of the Tioga Pass entrance to Yosemite National Park. He cheered on the Tioga Pass Run finishers for the first 13 years of the run\, and is with us in our memories\, reminding us to tread carefully on the delicate alpine environment of Tioga Pass.
