SUMMARY:Andrea Lawrence Award Dinner
DESCRIPTION:The Andrea Lawrence Award Dinner is a chance to gather in memory of Andrea\, enjoying delicious food and lively conversation with a spectacular view of Mt. Andrea Lawrence. We’ll also present the Andrea Lawrence Award for passionate engagement in community and the land to Martha Guzman Aceves. \n\n\n\nMartha played a pivotal role in elevating the urgency of the Mono Lake lake level issue while in her position as the Environmental Protection Agency’s Pacific Southwest Regional Administrator by bringing critical agencies together to collaboratively move toward a State Water Board hearing. \n\n\n\nThrough the Andrea Lawrence Fund\, the Mono Lake Committee works to promote and celebrate passionate engagement in community and the land with an emphasis on encouraging collaboration and inspiring youth to become environmental leaders. Proceeds for this event will contribute towards this fund. \n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn October 2024\, Committee Executive Director Geoff McQuilkin spoke at South Tufa with EPA Regional Administrator Martha Guzman Aceves and State Water Board Chair Joaquin Esquivel. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, June 21\, stop in to the Mono Lake Committee gallery to meet artists Stephanie Martin and Erika Perloff\, see their gallery show called Confluence: Etchings & Paintings of the Sierra\, and enjoy some wine and refreshments. These two longtime friends have many shared memories of the Eastern Sierra\, yet their unique portrayals of the natural world are juxtaposed on the galley walls. \n\n\n\n“Red-breasted Nuthatches\,” an etching by Stephanie Martin.\n\n\n\n“Early Gold\,” a pastel painting by Erika Perloff.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n\nDate: Saturday\, June 21\, 2025\, 4:00–6:00pm \n\n\n\nLocation: Mono Lake Committee Information Center & Bookstore in Lee Vining (51365 Highway 395) \n\n\n\nPrice: Free and open to the public \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMore information: Contact Mara Krista Plato at (760) 647-6595 \n\n\n\n\n\n\nTop photo courtesy of Erika Perloff: A detail from a piece called “Early Gold.”
