First-time registrants for this seminar will get priority; however\, there will be a limited number of spots for past attendees as well. \n\n\n\nThe lottery application will ask the following: \n\n\n\nName (One lottery entry per person permitted\, and lottery entries are not transferable)EmailGroup size (up to 4)Have you\, or anyone in your group\, attended the Geology of the Mono Basin Field Seminar in the past?\n\n\n\nThe lottery will open on February 17\, 2022 at 9:00am PST at the same time as registration for all other Field Seminars and the lottery will close on February 22\, 2022 at 11:59pm PST. You can enter once at any time during this window. Everyone will be contacted on February 23\, 2022 by email with the results of the lottery. Greg Stock is the first ever Yosemite National Park geologist. We will be standing for several hours at a time while out in the field; some of that time may be in the sun without much shade. Participants must be able to sit down in and get up out of a canoe.

DESCRIPTION:The rich light and deep colors of the Mono Basin are a perfect subject for the brilliance of pastel chalks. The goal of this weekend is to work outside\, on location\, to make landscape studies in pastel. Each participant will go home with at least one small finished painting and several sketches\, color studies\, and value experiments that will fuel future artistic endeavors.
