World Water Day March for water in Los Angeles

I had a good day Sunday, March 22, representing the Mono Lake Committee at March for Water, the Los Angeles celebration of World Water Day. It was organized by Miguel Luna, (Executive Director of Universidad del Agua, Urban Semillas, and several other organizations), and featured David Nahai (DWP General Manager), Paula Daniels (Board of Public Works Commissioner and immediate past president of Heal the Bay), and other speakers. Several teachers stopped by my booth and got information about the Outdoor Experiences program and presentations that I do. Two students from CALS High School who were in the OE program in October also stopped by.

It was very windy and all of our canopies were either blown away or taken down. At one point a large free-standing canopy got caught by the wind and came rolling toward my booth like a huge tumbleweed. Fortunately, the marchers were arriving just at that point and were able to intercept and dismantle it. The March began in the new Los Angeles State Historic Park and ended at Rio de Los Angeles State Historic Park. You can check www.marchforwater.com for more details.
