Sunrise light on a grove of tufa towers emerging from the water of Mono Lake with soft green and dusty-red wild grasses in the foreground, Canada geese in the shallow water with reflections of the rocky towers, and desert hills in the distance.

Get ready for Field Seminars!

2010 seminar collage

Scheduling is nearly complete for the Mono Lake Committee’s 2010 Field Seminar series … with nearly 20 weekend classes confirmed so far! Field Seminars explore aspects of the Mono Basin’s natural history, provide budding artists and photographers with expert instruction, and offer members and visitors a chance to delve deeply into subjects of their choice.

Sneak peek for 2010: the Davids (Lukas, Shuford, and Wimpfheimer) will be back to answer your birding questions, Greg Reis will offer his insights on the Mono Basin’s labyrinthine water works, Pete Pumphrey and Roberta Lagomarsini will take their fishing class out to the brand-new Conway Ranch casting ponds, Julia & Lucy Parker will help each student make a basket, and local photographer Elizabeth Corathers will teach new class! To name just a few….

Start thinking about your summer weekends, and check the seminars page of the website to see a listing of all Field Seminars on Friday, January 15. You can begin signing up on February 1 if you’re a member of the Mono Lake Committee, and if you’re not, you can join the day you sign up or wait until March 1 to choose your seminars.
