Holiday shopping: Kids’ gifts

This post was written by Emma Oschrin, 2013 Project Specialist.

Do you need gifts for the kids in your family? Check out all the wonderful products we’re offering at the Mono Lake Committee online store! We’ve got something for everyone: budding naturalists, artists, those who love story time or are learning to read themselves.

Charley Harper’s sticky birds make playtime fun while still being educational. This kit includes 180 reusable stickers, a board to arrange all of the stickers on, and a booklet explaining a little more about all of the birds. This set makes a great gift for kids (as well as adults!) and will put a smile on any birder’s face.

We also have a selection of artist coloring cards that are wonderful for children and adults alike. These playful postcards feature modern art pieces that still need to be colored in … by you! This gift is both functional and interactive. We carry cards sets that have designs by Charley Harper, Hiroshige, and Frank Lloyd Wright.

Lastly, the bookstore offers a great selection of children’s books that the whole family can enjoy together. This year, we’re highlighting three of our very favorite children’s books. Raven and the Red Ball by Sarah Drummond tells the story of raven, a dog, and their red ball. This picture book is wordless yet it manages to tell the story beautifully with Drummond’s playful images. Robert Pizzo’s clever book, The Amazing Animal Alphabet of Twenty-six Tongue Twisters, will have you twisting your words over and over again! This book features a letter of the alphabet, an animal, and a tongue twister on every page. Another Committee favorite is Kathy DeZarn Beynette’s When Your Porcupine Feels Prickly. This book is great for the animal lover in your life! This book is filled with clever poems and illustrations to accompany them.
