Tioga Inn likely to go before Mono County Board of Supervisors in JuneMay 1st, 2020 by Elin, Communications Coordinator
No date has yet been set for the Mono County Board of Supervisors to take up the Tioga Inn project, but it is likely to happen in June.
Following the disappointing Mono County Planning Commission meeting of April 16, at which the commissioners voted 4-0 to approve the project despite hundreds of public comments in opposition, the Supervisors discussed options for a Tioga Inn meeting at their April 21 regularly scheduled meeting. They expressed interest in being able to meet in person, in Lee Vining, during a special meeting outside of the regular schedule. They also recognized the value of the meeting being available online via Zoom, with participants able to give their personal comments in real-time, just like participants who would be physically in the room.
Given the uncertainties of being able to meet in person due to COVID-19, the Supervisors decided to revisit the schedule and logistics for a Tioga Inn meeting in late May or early June. In the event that a meeting would not be able to take place in person in June, the Supervisors agreed that the meeting would go forward in the same month, solely via Zoom, in the interest of not unduly delaying the project.
Public comment will be important at the Board of Supervisors meeting—stay tuned here on the Mono-logue for information on the future meeting, and how you can express your concerns to our elected representatives.
