The Mono Basin Bird Chautauqua brings birders together to enhance appreciation and understanding of the Mono Basin’s diverse and abundant bird life and to educate the public about this area’s value to birds and people.

About the Chautauqua
This year is the 22nd annual Mono Basin Bird Chautauqua—a weekend celebration of birds in the Mono Basin! It is our mission to enhance appreciation and understanding of the Mono Basin’s diverse and abundant bird life and to educate the public about this area’s value to birds and people. The Mono Basin is known worldwide for its immense populations of migratory and nesting birds. This year we are celebrating the 35th anniversary of Mono Lake becoming a Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network Site of International Importance. Mono Lake is also designated as a globally significant Important Bird Area by the American Bird Conservancy and Audubon Society. The natural beauty of this area and its diverse bird life provide the ideal backdrop for the Mono Basin Bird Chautauqua.
