Protection

An island of tufa towers emerges from Mono Lake in a pink and blue soft hue sunset.

Protecting Mono Lake for future generations

Protecting Mono Lake, its streams, and surrounding lands requires thoughtful planning, nimble advocacy, and continuing vigilance. The Mono Lake Committee defends existing protections to ensure that established rules, orders, agreements, and victories remain active and strong, and are not ignored or eroded by time. We work proactively—collaboratively developing balanced, principled, and compelling solutions to the ever-evolving range of issues facing Mono Lake.
