It’s #GivingTuesday and we’re giving Mono Lake our allDecember 3rd, 2013 by Arya, Communications Director
It’s Tuesday morning at Mono Lake Committee headquarters in Lee Vining. Outside it feels like it’s trying to snow. Inside, staff members are tucked away in their nook-and-cranny offices dutifully working away.
Geoff is talking to our attorneys about implementing the stream restoration agreement. Lisa is prepping for a meeting about Sage Grouse. Bartshe is training Elina for watershed education and outreach work in Los Angeles. Ellen is getting stacks of Mono Lake Calendars as tall as she is ready to send out in bulk mail to members. Emma is carefully packaging up mail orders so Mono Lake gifts make it in time for Christmas. Terry is holding down the fort at the front counter and talking to the intrepid visitors wanting to see Mono Lake come rain, shine, or snow. Greg is monitoring streamflow, precipitation , and temperature data on Mono’s tributaries. And the list goes on. It’s Tuesday morning and we’re giving Mono Lake our all.
Beyond the walls of the Mono Lake Committee there is a larger effort to acknowledge the importance of non-profit work, afoot. It’s called #GivingTuesday (following Black Friday and Cyber Monday) and it’s a national online event to raise awareness about charity fundraising. Or, in other words, it’s a day to remember to donate to your favorite non-profit.
We’re all for it, and if you are too, here’s an easy way to join in the fun:
Thank you for thinking of Mono Lake today!
