An open letter regarding the Tioga Inn

Today (June 24, 2020) the Mono County Board of Supervisors received an open letter regarding the Tioga Inn project from members of the Lee Vining community, including the Mono Lake Committee.

The letter details several specific problems with the project as it is proposed:

  • It violates the Mono Basin Community Plan vision and principles
  • It is bad for kids, schools, businesses, Mono Lake, and Lee Vining
  • It will stick the community and Mono County taxpayers with millions of dollars in unfunded obligations
  • It ignores agency, resident, and public solutions

The letter also reiterates to the Supervisors that a better project is possible, and offers examples of mitigations that could improve it.
