To close out 2024 strong we have set ourselves a challenging goal of 1,000 supporters donating online to support the Mono Lake Committee this month.
Will you join fellow supporters and help us reach the goal by making a donation of any amount today? Together we will turn this year’s accomplishments into on-the-ground results for Mono Lake.
In November, the Department of Water & Power (DWP) abandoned the commitment Los Angeles Mayor Bass made back in May to voluntarily help restore Mono Lake. Now DWP is maximizing water exports—and artificially lowering Mono Lake, even though it is only halfway to the mandated, healthy management level.
The Mono Lake Committee is already fighting back, thanks to your support, and DWP’s damaging behavior in the spotlight. In fact, the State Water Board responded to DWP by accelerating its 2025 schedule for the long-awaited hearing that will look at limiting stream diversions to help the lake achieve its mandated 6,392-foot surface elevation.
It’s because of people like you who care enough to support the Mono Lake Committee’s tireless actions to defend and protect Mono Lake that it still has a chance for long-term health. It’s time for Mono Lake to get the water it deserves—we must keep pushing for that.
Your year-end gift will fund the Committee’s efforts at the State Water Board hearing to fight for the water Mono Lake needs so it can finally reach the mandated healthy level. Every single donation makes a difference.
Thank you!
