I’m in Los Angeles this week–in fact, a day longer than planned thanks to some large early winter storms. Downtown received several inches of rain on Monday. On Wednesday, as I wrapped up my Mono Lake visits at the City Council and Department of Water and Power, it was raining again–a lot!
The snow level had fallen well into the local mountains and by Wednesday afternoon I found my path–all paths–home blocked by snow. Highway 14 was closed, as were Interstates 5 and 15. There wasn’t much else to do but spend an extra night and wait for the roads to clear. I’m used to that happening at Mono Lake in the winter, but it’s a new experience for LA!
