I recently walked along the Lee Vining Creek Trail and saw a beautiful preview of budding flowers: fragrant desert peach, yellow bitterbrush blossoms, a few bright paintbrush, and the exotic death camas. The wildflower seminar takes place June 12-14, and by that time, the desert should be in beautiful full bloom!
Veteran botanist Mark Bagley teaches the three-day seminar, which focuses on plants in the varied Mono Basin habitats—sagebrush scrub, pumice flats, pinyon-juniper woodland, Jeffrey pine forest, and desert wetlands. Mark has taught Mono Lake Committee seminars for over 20 years, and combines an immense store of knowledge with infectious enthusiasm for a great teaching style.
