Supporters of Mono Lake and Bodie know the park closure saga we went through earlier this year as the California budget negotiations threatened almost all state parks with closure. (You can read more in our action alert center).
Well, get ready for a second round. The budget for the State Park system wasn’t completely slashed, but with a $14 million cut on top of three mandatory furlough days per month for employees, estimates are that up to 100 parks will be closed.
That closure list comes out soon after Labor Day.Will the state parks at Mono Lake and Bodie be on it? We don’t know yet, but we’re getting ready to respond as is necessary.
