Members: the fall 2010 Mono Lake Newsletter is now online
November 1st, 2010 by Arya, Communications DirectorI’m excited to announce that the fall 2010 Mono Lake Newsletter is now available online for Mono Lake Committee members. Follow the link, and login to see the fall issue.
As I type this Mono-logue entry the Newsletter is also being printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper for the first time ever. Considering the importance of the contents inside, this may seem like a small thing to highlight, but we’re pretty proud to be making the leap to a more responsible paper.
“You’re still printing your newsletter?” you may ask. Yes. My communications cohort Elin Ljung recently passed along this interesting tidbit from High Country News “According to Mediamark Research, Inc. (MRI), over the past five years magazine readership has increased 4.3% and magazine ad recall has increased by 13%. Ninety-two percent of US adults read magazines, and 90% said they would choose the print version over an e-version.” Plus, we know quite a few of you who still really like to sit down with the printed edition in your hand, and take a little time to catch up on Mono Lake.
We also know that many members like to read the Newsletter online; after all, the online version is in color. Hopefully, this means everyone will be happy.
There are articles on the next steps with the synthesis report, the airport, dust storms, a 26-year-old California Gull, and lots more. Plus, the Fall Catalog is in there with some great holiday gift ideas. So, login now to see the Newsletter, or if you’re waiting for the printed edition, it’s on its way (on super-recycled paper) to your mailbox very soon!

We like the Website a lot and use it. Therefore:
We no longer require the printed version of the newsletter.
Thanks

I agree the online version is excellent and I no longer need the hard copy.

The color version of the newsletter is great… but I love getting the hard copy because in my neck of the woods, not everyone knows about Mono Lake. It’s great to be able to pass my newsletter around. Great cover photo, BTW, is it Lundy Canyon from the top down?

The online version looks great – color pictures look so much better than the printed version.
You now need to give members the option to not receive the printed version – you can’t get more green by saving paper and reducing printing costs. Then you would have more money available to use for important Mono Lake initiatives.

Congratulations on the recycled stock! Love the colors of the online newsletter, but want to keep getting the print version to share in my office waiting room.
