Sunrise light on a grove of tufa towers emerging from the water of Mono Lake with soft green and dusty-red wild grasses in the foreground, Canada geese in the shallow water with reflections of the rocky towers, and desert hills in the distance.

Thank you, Mono Lake readers!

This post was written by Jessica Schneider, 2015-2020 Office Director, 2011-2013 Information Center & Bookstore Manager, and 2010 Information Center & Bookstore Assistant.

Analyzing the year-end sales for the Information Center & Bookstore generally yields predictable results. However, in 2012, contrary to my expectations, our book sales increased by 10% from 2011!

This is thanks to all those who purchased real, physical books from our selection, both in the store and online.

Our top ten best-selling books were all related to natural history or the Mono Basin. Several best sellers were by local authors—David Carle, for instance. Dave’s newest book, Traveling the 38th Parallel, will be available at the Mono Lake Committee soon.

We appreciate your business, and will continue carrying a great selection of natural history, local, fiction and non-fiction books as long as you keep reading!
