New gallery show: Ane Carla Rovetta’s pastel & soil paintings

You don’t want to miss the Mono Lake Committee’s new gallery show, A Distant Sparkle: The Mono Basin & Beyond, a colorful interpretation of the vast Eastern Sierra, captured by artist Ane Carla Rovetta’s brilliant pastel and soil paintings.

Ane Carla not only paints her landscapes on location, she paints WITH the location!  Ane Carla uses stone, soot, soils and even pollen to create unique pastels and vivid artwork. A Distant Sparkle will be on display through July 31, 2014.

Mark Saturday, May 24 on your calendar—this is your chance to meet the artist and watch her create her fabulous pastels from Mono Basin soils. There will be a pastel-making demonstration starting at 3:30pm, followed by an artist’s reception with refreshments starting at 5:30pm.
