We hope you are planning to submit your Mono Lake and Mono Basin photos for the 2021 Mono Lake Calendar jury selection this year. The deadline is Wednesday, October 31, 2019, and you can find submission information here.
We encourage you to submit high-quality photographs that you feel best capture the spirit of the Mono Basin’s geological and ecological wonders. To be selected for inclusion in the 2021 Mono Lake Calendar, images must depict subjects within the watershed boundary of Mono Lake. Possible subjects include, but are not limited to: plants, geologic features, streams, mountains, weather, fall colors, wildlife, and aerials. Images of sand tufa will not be considered due to the degradation affecting these features. In publishing the calendar we strive to promote and celebrate Mono Lake’s natural beauty; therefore, images that are obviously filtered or manipulated will not be considered.
Since 1986, the magnificent geological and ecological wonders of Mono Lake have been celebrated in the Mono Lake Calendar, published by the Mono Lake Committee. Sales of the calendar help to fund the Committee’s work to protect and restore both the lake and the Mono Basin. The Mono Lake Calendar has been widely acclaimed for its artistic merit, due in large measure to the talent of the photographers whose work is represented. Each year, the calendar has been published according to exacting standards of artistic, photographic, and manufacturing excellence.
We look forward to receiving and judging the originality, expression, and quality of your unique photographs! If you have questions regarding submissions, please contact Communications Director Arya Harp by email or at (760) 647-6595 x111.
