“Tufa Towers” by Hannelore Fischer.

When Hannelore moved to Mariposa in 2017, she took inspiration from the Sierra Nevada and its beauty, which is absolutely reflected in her immersive depictions of mountain landscapes, wildflowers, lakes, rivers, and waterfalls. She works using acrylic on canvas, mixing stipple dots and small layered brush marks to build texture that effectively pulls viewers into the environment that is being depicted—from limestone tufa patches to granite giants and waterfalls in Yosemite. Her work is colorful and bold, and fuses abstract with representational art.

Hannelore’s show is titled “Across the Crest: Tufa & Aspen, Granite & Dogwood—Paintings of the Sierra by Hannelore Fischer” and will be taking residency in the gallery at the Mono Lake Committee Information Center & Bookstore from August 8 through December 2026. She will be selling paintings and matted prints at our bookstore.
