To the people of Los Angeles, amidst the wildfires,

Our thoughts are with you in these unimaginably challenging times. From the shores of #MonoLake to the vibrant heart of Los Angeles, we stand with you.

Though separated by distance, we are profoundly connected.

We share water, a lifeline, lifeblood—essential for drinking and wildlife, for health and habitat, and for the places we love and the places we call home. From water springs life, and the greater Mono Lake community that is rooted in the places, people, and communities now ravaged by wildfire. We are all in this together.

To our Los Angeles members and friends,

Our hearts are with you. Your courage in the face of adversity inspires us, and we remain dedicated to creating a safe, and bright future at both ends of the Los Angeles Aqueduct. You are not alone.

To Los Angeles community and civic leaders,

We send our unwavering support as you navigate the difficult days ahead. Extreme challenges remind us of the essential balance we strive to protect—and the importance of community in building resilience.

The State Water Board will schedule for 2025 its long-awaited hearing about #MonoLake and implementation of the mandated, healthy 6,392-foot surface elevation. The hearing is the way to get Mono Lake the water it needs, which is especially clear after DWP recently abandoned its commitment to help the lake rise. Back in May DWP committed to helping preserve Mono Lake's remarkable 2023 rise by exporting only 4,500 acre-feet of water this year, one-quarter of what is allowed. But that collaborative approach to restoring #MonoLake didn't last - in November DWP quietly reversed its plan and began maximizing water exports. Councilmember Tim McOsker, Mono Lake Committee Executive Director Geoff McQuilkin, Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky, mark!
