#1 on the top 10 of 2012: The new Mono Lake Committee storefront

Number 1 on our Top Ten highlights list is the remodeled Committee storefront—a multi-year process culminating in the construction and grand re-opening this past summer!

Among the many highlights and wonderful moments of the process:

using boulders from the Simis Ranch to anchor the remodel in Mono Basin place and history,

• the meticulous care that went into reproducing Mono Lake’s shape in metal for the concrete map,

• the piece of woodworking art that local craftsman David Dore made for a sound barrier wall,

• serendipitously opening up the front stairs on the same day the Committee first opened it’s doors in 1979,
