Winter is in the rearview mirror, and it’s time to start planning your summer in the Eastern Sierra. Reservations are now available for this summer’s Mono Lake canoe tours! Tours happen every weekend from the last week in June to Labor Day weekend.
The best way to experience the unique beauty of Mono Lake is by getting on the water. Imagine yourself on a crisp summer morning, paddling between the strange and towering tufa formations. You can get eye level with the underwater world of Mono Lake, a place full of bubbling springs, diving alkali flies, and trillions of brine shrimp. Imagine floating by Osprey atop their tufa tower nesting sites. Paddle alongside gulls, grebes, phalaropes, and the many other birds that call Mono Lake home for the summer. In just one hour you can experience an ecosystem like no other!

Mono Lake is more than just its amazing ecology. The Mono Lake Committee’s naturalist guides will tell you about Mono Lake’s fascinating cultural, natural, and political history. From the millennia of the Kootzaduka’a Tribe’s residence here, to relatively recent volcanic eruptions, to the last century of harmful water diversions, the Mono Lake story has something fascinating for everyone. And this season don’t forget to ask your guide about the latest Mono Lake news from the California State Water Resources Control Board.
Canoe tours happen every Saturday and Sunday at 8:00am, 9:30am, and 11:00am from June 27 through September 7. Tickets are $20 for children ages 4–12 and $35 for adults ages 13+. For more information, visit the canoe tours page or give us a call at (760) 647-6595. No canoe experience is necessary!
