The Mono Lake webcams have long been a favorite feature of our website—last year they were viewed nearly 50,000 times! Whether it’s to see how much snow fell in Lee Vining after a big storm, to replay a gorgeous summer sunset over Mono Lake, or to enjoy the changing aspens along Mill Creek in the fall, the webcams have helped keep folks connected to Mono Lake from wherever they are all year long.

While the cameras have been a popular staple of the website, aging hardware has made them less reliable in recent years. We are excited to announce that we are planning to replace all three cameras with new, HD livestreaming cameras that will provide much clearer views of the Mono Basin and have more dependable uptime. Additionally, you’ll be able to enjoy daily timelapse videos from each location to watch the beautiful and ever-changing weather and light moving across the Mono Basin.
We’re hoping to install the cameras this spring and we can’t wait for you to see these new views of Mono Lake. If you’ve been inspired by the webcams, we hope you’ll consider chipping in to help fund these new cameras and further our work to protect and restore Mono Lake.

Your request gives no idea of how much these cameras cost and how much you have to raise..
Thank you for asking, Lynn! The total cost for all of the cameras is about $2,000 and there is an ongoing monthly cost to keep the cameras running reliably online, so every gift makes a difference. Right now, we are about halfway to having the cameras fully funded. We’d love your support!
