The keynote speaker this year will be Marcie Edwards, General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power. It has become a bit of a tradition for DWP General Managers to speak at the event, with Ron Nichols’ remarks in 2011 and David Nahai’s in 2008, and now we look forward to hearing from Marcie about the important relationship between DWP and the Eastern Sierra.

This year we’ll be presenting the Andrea Lawrence Award for passionate engagement in community and the land to Ted Schade, former compliance officer with the Great Basin Unified Air Pollution Control District. Ted’s 24 years with the district culminated in an important agreement with DWP for keeping the Owens Valley’s air clearer of wind-blown dust rising from the bed of the dry Owens Lake, which had been a contentious subject for many years.

So come join us! In addition to hearing Marcie’s speak and honoring Ted, we’ll enjoy the view of Mt. Andrea Lawrence from the windows of Parallax Restaurant, we’ll share delicious food prepared by Mammoth Mountain Ski Area’s chef, and we’ll toast to Andrea’s legacy and those who keep carrying it forward. You won’t want to miss it.

The Andrea Lawrence Award Dinner is Friday, April 24 at 5:30pm at Parallax Restaurant. Reserve your ticket with a $65 donation by contacting Project Specialist Lily Pastel by email or at (760) 647-6595 x162 by Wednesday, April 1. We look forward to seeing you there!
